Certify ("the app", "we", "us") is an independent study app that helps you prepare for cloud and data certifications. This policy explains what data the app does and does not handle. If you have questions, contact us at naqvim@myumanitoba.ca.
None that personally identifies you. Certify has no sign-up, no login, and no user accounts. We do not ask for, collect, or transmit your name, email, contacts, location, or any other personal information.
To remember your choices, the app saves your preferences locally on your device only — including your notification settings, reminder time, text-size choice, reduce-motion preference, selected certification, and whether you have completed onboarding. This information never leaves your device, is not sent to us or anyone else, and is removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
Lessons are displayed inside the app using an in-app browser (WebView) that loads content from a
third-party website (alreadycertified.netlify.app), hosted on Netlify. When you view
a lesson, your device connects to that website and its hosting provider, which — like any website
you visit — may automatically receive standard technical information such as your IP address,
device/browser type, and the pages requested, and may set cookies or local storage in the in-app
browser. This processing is governed by the privacy practices of those third parties, not by
Certify. We do not receive or store this information.
The app requests a single permission — Internet access — which is required only to load lesson content in the in-app browser. The app does not access your camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, or files.
Certify contains no analytics tools, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDKs. We do not build a profile of you and we do not sell or share data, because we do not collect it.
Certify is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. Because the app does not collect personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your preferences are stored using your device's standard app storage and are protected by your device's own security. Because we do not collect or hold any of your data on our servers, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf. You remain in full control: clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app removes the locally stored settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you. Since Certify does not collect or hold personal data, there is none for us to provide, correct, or erase. You can remove all locally stored data at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it.
As the app adds features (for example, accounts or new certifications), we may update this policy. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be reflected here before the related features become available.
